No. 11 Mid Michigan, No. 21 St. Clair County Lead Five MCCAA Women’s Basketball Programs Recognized in Preseason Poll
The NJCAA released preseason basketball polls on Monday (Oct. 21) and five MCCAA women's basketball programs were mentioned either in the Top 25 or receiving votes section. Of the five garnering votes, two cracked the Top 25, led by last year's Great Lakes District A Champion, the Mid Michigan College Lakers, at No. 11. The Lakers were also Co-Champions of the MCCAA Northern Conference before going on to win the MCCAA Championship and their opening round game at the national tournament.
St. Clair County Community College, a MCCAA Eastern Conference Co-Champion from a season ago, checked in at No. 21. The Skippers appeared in the MCCAA Championship Game last year as the Eastern Conference representative.
The 2023-24 Great Lakes District C Champion and Eastern Conference Co-Champion, Jackson College, paced a group of three schools in the receiving votes section. The Jets were followed by a pair of other Conference Co-Champions from last season, Bay College (MCCAA North) and Lansing Community College (MCCAA West).
