Macomb CC women's basketball ranked 2nd in Division II pre-season poll
The Macomb Community College women's basketball team is ranked second in the NJCAA Division II women's basketball pre-season poll that was released on Tuesday. The Monarchs were 32-0 overall and 16-0 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference last season. The won the MCCAA and NJCAA Great Lakes District B Championships. They qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Muskegon Community College is ranked 16th in the poll. The Jayhawks were 25-5 overall and won the MCCAA Western Conference with a 16-2 record. The were the runner up for the MCCAA Championship.
Mid Michigan College is ranked 17th in the pre-season rankings. The Lakers were 28-3 overall and 15-3 in the MCCAA Western Conference. They qualified for the canceled NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament by winning the NJCAA Great Lakes District A Championship.
Grand Rapids Community College is in the other schools receiving votes category. Grand Rapids was 15-16 last year and 12-5 in the MCCAA Western Conference last year.
The MCCAA conference schedule is slated to tip-off on Tuesday, February 9. Several teams have opted out of the season due to COVID-19. As with everything during this pandemic the schedule is very fluid.
