KVCC Captures 2025 MCCAA Men’s Basketball Championship

KALAMAZOO – The seventh-ranked Cougars of Kalamazoo Valley Community College avenged their lone loss of the season with a 93-85 victory over eighth-ranked Macomb Community College on Saturday (March 1) to capture the 2025 MCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The MCCAA title was the sixth in program history and the first for the Cougars since the 1997-98 campaign.

The MCCAA Championship, formerly known as the 'State Championship', followed the program's third Western Conference title in as many seasons.

Up eight at the break, 47-39, the Cougars extended their lead to as many as 13 early in the second half before Macomb responded with a flurry of baskets to take a 70-63 edge with 9:46 remaining in the contest. The Cougars answered from there, regaining the lead down the stretch to win the program's first MCCAA title of the century.
