The Schoolcraft College men's basketball team held off a scrappy seventh seeded Delta College to win the NJCAA Great Lakes East District Champions by a score of 71-66 on Saturday night. Delta College had eliminated the two and three seeds earlier in the tournament.
The Pioneers were led by Golitah Mitchell with 33 points, while Anthony Sanders score 12 points. Delvonte McCloud had eight points and nine rebounds. The Pioneers end the season with a 14-16 record.
Schoolcraft College was led by Tre Harvey with 16 points, while Kemon Bassett added 13 points and 11 rebounds. David Wren chipped in 11 points, while Zavon Godwin tossed in nine points and seven rebounds.
The Ocelots (28-4) advance to the NJCAA Divsion II National Tournament in Danville, IL on March 17-21.
