Macomb Sweeps MCCAA Eastern Conference Baseball Weekly Awards

Macomb Community College Baseball has swept the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week4 awards, as freshman Dane Richards earned his first career hitter award and sophomore Brandon Rice is the top pitcher.

Richards, an outfielder, produced a .556/.667/.722 slashline during Macomb's 5-1 week. He accounted for 15 runs, including nine batted in. He walked six times and had two stolen bases. He also was perfect defensively in nine total chances, including an assist throwing out a runner at home.

Rice had 11 strikeouts over 5.0 innings of work in two appearances in which he allowed no earned runs and just two hits. His week was highlighted by finishing the Monarchs' combined no-hitter in a non-conference game, striking out the side in the last frame. Then against Schoolcraft, he came on in a 4-4 tie to toss 4.0 innings of eight-strikeout ball to help lead the team to an 8-4 victory.

Both teammates hail from Macomb, Mich.
