2023 MCCAA / Region XII Baseball Awards Announced
The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) announced its 2023 Baseball Awards Thursday (June 1). The various awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches following another great season of MCCAA Baseball.
Jerad Berkenpas of Grand Rapids CC earned Northern Conference Player of the Year accolades and Lansing CC's Shane Juday won Western Conference Player of the Year, while Jack Zang of Schoolcraft College and Henry Ford College's Ricky Kidd Co-Player of the Year honors in the Eastern Conference. Zang also took home Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year honors. Alex Duley of Mid Michigan College was named the Northern Conference Freshman of the Year and Aaron Piasecki of Kellogg CC was tabbed Western Conference Freshman of the Year.
Grand Rapids CC skipper, Mike Eddington, was named MCCAA Coach of the Year and Coach of the Year of the Northern Conference. Jackson College's Rick Smith garnered Eastern Conference Coach of the Year honors, while Co-Coach of the Year honors went to Eric Laskovy of Kellogg CC and Steve Bennecke of Kalamazoo Valley CC.
