2023 All-MCCAA Women's Volleyball Awards Announced

LANSING, Mich.--The Michigan Community College Athletic Association announced on Thursday the All-MCCAA Volleyball teams and conference awards.

Grand Rapids Community College's Chip Will was named the MCCAA Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to their second MCCAA championship in a row and 10th overall in program history, defeating No. 19 Lansing Community College. The nationally No. 7-ranked GRCC squad carried a 23-3 record into the Great Lakes B District Tournament in Port Huron. Will mentored three student-athletes--the most of any school--on the All-MCCAA Team.

Will also earned the Northern Conference Coach of the Year award after the Raiders went 12-0 in conference play to finish three games ahead of the second-place team. Grand Rapids CC sophomore outside hitter Braelyn Berry (Stanwood, Mich./Morley Stanwood High School) earned the conference's player of the year moniker after posting MCCAA statistical rankings of second in aces per set (0.64), fifth in service aces (58) and ninth in kills per set (3.02 kps). She also averaged 3.46 digs per set.

Katie Naves of Mott Community College is the MCCAA Eastern Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Bears to the Eastern title with an 11-1 conference mark and 16-10 overall. St. Clair County Community College's Piper Clark is the Player of the Year after the freshman outside hitter from Richmond High School spiked 325 kills to rank fourth in the entire MCCAA. She also had 327 digs for 14th.

On the MCCAA Western Conference front, Nikki Nate (Southwestern Michigan College) is the Player of the Year and Emily Quintero (Lansing Community College) is the Coach of the Year. Nate, who is a sophomore middle hitter hailing from Niles High School, ranked second in MCCAA kills with 369 and led the 21-team Association with a .392 hitting percentage. She also was third with 94 total blocks, sixth with 53 service aces and 10th with 383 digs. Quintero piloted the Stars to the Western title (11-1), a 27-3 overall record, a NJCAA national ranking and an appearance in the MCCAA championship match.
