Mott CC hosts MCCAA Volleyball Championship on Saturday

For the second time since 2018, Mott Community College will host the MCCAA Championship. As the top seed out of the Eastern Conference, Mott host the tournament that rotates yearly. The Bears would have hosted in 2020 but there was no tournament due to COVID. The tournament features, for the first time, the top seed from all three conferences. Besides Mott, the tournament features the Northern Conference top seed #13 - Grand Rapids Community College and Western Conference Champion Lake Michigan College. At 12 noon, Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan will face off in the semi-final. The winner advances to play Mott CC in the Championship at 3 PM.

Grand Rapids is 18-3 on the season. Their losses are to #1 - Parkland (IL) College, #2 - Johnson (KS) County CC and rival #16 - Muskegon CC. The Raiders and Jayhawks tied for the Northern Conference title with Muskegon. Lake Michigan College won the Western Conference title on Thursday night when they defeated Southwestern Michigan College. The Red Hawks and Raiders did not meet this season.

Mott Community College shared the title with both Oakland Community College and St. Clair County Community College but got the number one seed on set differential among the tied teams. It was the Bears sixth consecutive Eastern Conference title. The Bears defeated Lake Michigan College at the Raider Challenge in early October and did not face Grand Rapids CC.

The tournament will be streamed on the Mott Community College YouTube channel.
