MCCAA Crowns Individual Wrestling Champions

PORT HURON, Mich.--The Michigan Community College Athletic Association held the 2024 MCCAA Individual Wrestling Championships on the campus of St. Clair County Community College in the SC4 Fieldhouse over the weekend. Click the link for complete results.

Southwestern Michigan College was declared the team champion by outscoring runner-up Henry Ford College, 124.5 points to 55.5. Rounding out the top six were Mott Community College (37), Muskegon Community College (34), Marian University Ancilla (33.5) and SC4 (28).

The MCCAA Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Year Award went to Southwestern Michigan sophomore Hunter Heath III (Niles, Mich./Brandywine High School). He captured the 165-pound title after falls in the semifinals and finals by 24 seconds and 1 minute and 45 seconds, respectively. Heath moves to 26-2 on the season.

Henry Ford's Jake Navarro was named the MCCAA Freshman of the Year at 197 pounds. Navarro received two byes before defeating his semifinal opponent in a 1:34 fall. He won the crown with a 3:40 fall, moving to 16-2 on the season.
