Mid Michigan Snares Second MCCAA Women's Basketball Title in a Row

FLINT, Mich.--Rachel Resio scored a game-high 19 points and led the team with nine rebounds to help lead Mid Michigan College to the 2024 Michigan Community College Athletic Association women's basketball championship with a 60-41 victory Saturday over St. Clair County Community College at Mott Community College's Steve Schmidt Gymnasium. The Lakers improve to 27-1 on the season and repeat their 2023 crown, while the Skippers slip to 24-4.

Resio made five of the Lakers' 12 treys on the night and she had three steals. Teammate Chloe Watson added 14 points, eight rebounds and a game-high five assists.

For SC4, Bailey Gormley led the way with nine points, seven rebounds and three assists. Amanda Kitchen (8 points) pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds, had three steals and blocked three shots.

Both teams struggled shooting the basketball but the Lakers were able to make six more field goals (21-15) and six more treys (12-6).

Mid Michigan controlled the glass, 46 to 33 rebounds.
