Seven run second inning power Lansing CC to Regional Championship game

A home run by Robert Cavin opened the bottom of the second inning for Lansing Community College. Five hits and three Grand Rapids CC errors later, the Stars were up 7-0 and on their way to a 10-2 win and a berth in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship Game. Cavin also singled in the final run of the inning. The Stars also had two triples and a double in the inning. 

The Raiders Dylan Chargo had a 2 RBI single in the top of the third to cut the lead to 7-2. However, the eighth ranked Stars answered with three of their own in the bottom of the third inning. The big blow was a Hunter Lay two RBI double. And the was the end of the scoring as the game ended in a run rule decision in the 7th inning. 

Brendan Beaver of Lansing went the distance, scattering four hits, allowing two runs, one earned, walking two and striking out four to pick up the win. Cavin was two for four with a home run, two RBI and a run scored. 

Dylan Chargo was two for three with a double and two RBI. Drew Murphy took the loss. 

Lansing CC will face number five Kellogg Community College tomorrow at 10 AM for the championship. Kellogg has to beat Lansing twice to advance to Nationals.
