Lansing season ends with second loss at NJCAA Division II World Series

The Lansing Community College baseball team was eliminated from the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series with a 7-0 loss to Florida State College-Jacksonville on Tuesday afternoon. The Stars finish their season with a 44-11 overall record.

The Lansing Community College baseball team could not contain top seeded Pearl River (MS) Community College's offense late last night in Enid, OK. The Stars fell 17-8 in a seven-inning run rule shortened game.
Ham, Cavin, power Lansing CC to victory over Frederick CC in first round of NJCAA Division II World Series

The Lansing Community College baseball team pounded out 22 hits, including four each by Robert Cavin (Livonia, MI/Stevenson) and Brendan Ham (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) to defeat Frederick (MD) Community College 13-2 in the first round of the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, OK on Friday afternoon. All nine hatters had at least one hit in the game.
Kellogg CC forces second championship game with 8-6 win over Lansing CC

The fifth ranked Kellogg Community College baseball team forced a second championship game on Saturday with a come from behind 8-6 win over eighth ranked Lansing CC. The Bruins opened the scoring in the top of the second when R.J. Sherwood drove in Donvan Thompson with a double down the left field line.

The eight ranked Lansing Community College baseball team has earned a trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series with a 17-6 win over fifth ranked Kellogg Community College in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship game at Siena Heights University in Adrian on Saturday. The win came after Kellogg has won the first championship game 8-6.

A home run by Robert Cavin opened the bottom of the second inning for Lansing Community College. Five hits and three Grand Rapids CC errors later, the Stars were up 7-0 and on their way to a 10-2 win and a berth in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship Game.

Lansing Community College scored four unearned runs in the first inning and never look back cruising to a 16-0 five inning win over Edison State Community College in the opening game of the second round of the NJCAA Region XII Division II Baseball Championship. A two out error opened the door to a four run first inning for the Stars.

Kellogg Community College jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back to defeated Edison State Community College 10-5 in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship. Kellogg used two singles, a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt to drive in the runs.

Kellogg Community College freshman pitcher Ashton Potts (Sterling Heights, MI/Stevenson) has been selected as the MCCAA Western Conference Pitcher of the Week. Potts tossed 8.1 innings of shutout ball scattering eight hits as striking out 13 batters to earn the win.

Lansing Community College freshman infielder Brendan Ham (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) has been tabbed as the MCCAA Eastern Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Ham batted .500 (5 of 10) with two doubles, a home run, five runs, a walk, two runs and four RBI.

Jackson College sophomore pitcher Randy Pritchard (Winter Haven, FL/Winter Haven) threw a five inning complete game no-hitter to earn his second MCCAA Eastern Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Pritchard struck out four and walked one in the win.

Mid Michigan College freshman outfielder Donavon Borg (St. Clair, MI/St. Clair) has earned MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Week honors. Borg hit .600 (12 for 20) with a double, three home runs, 11 RBI, ten runs scored and a walk in six games for the Lakers last week.
