Twenty MCCAA wrestlers qualify for the NJCAA Wresting National Championship

Over the weekend, the NJCAA North Central District was held at Triton College in River Grove, IL. While the three Illinois teams took the top three team spots, 20 MCCAA wrestler qualified for the NJCAA Wrestling National Championships. They Championships are March 6-7 in Council Bluffs, IA. Harper (IL) College won the tournament, Triton College was second. Muskegon CC finished fourth, Henry Ford College finished fifth, Ancilla College was sixth and St. Clair County CC took home seventh. 

In the 125 pound weight class, MCCAA Freshman of the Year Donte Rivera-Garcia finished second and qualified for the National Championship. Cody Wood for St. Clair County CC finished fifth and got a wild card berth in the Championship. In the 133 pound weight class, James Davis of Ancilla College was runner-up and earned a berth in the National Championship, while Scott Torres of Henry Ford College was 4th. St. Clair County CC wrestler Dominic Todaro finished fifth and got wild card berth to the tournament. 

In the 141 weight class, Muskegon CC's Bryan Jones was the individual champion and got an automatic berth to the National Championship. Ancilla's Nelson Roberts also got an automatic bid finishing fourth. In the 149 weight class, Ashton Philburn of St. Clair County CC finished third and Elijah Kidder of Henry Ford finished fourth. Both earned automatic berths to the National Championship. 

Trent Myre of Muskegon finished fourth in the 157 pound weight class to earn an automatic berth. In the 165 pound weight class, Tykease Baker of Ancilla earned an automatic berth by finishing fourth. St. Clair's Jack Ferrara was the only MCCAA wrestler to earn an automatic berth in the 174 weight class by finishing fourth. 

In the 184 pound weight class, Dean Elder finished runner-up and Mitch Ward of Muskegon CC finished fourth to earn automatic berths to the National Championship. Jared St. James of St. Clair County CC finished fifth an got a wild care berth into the Championship. In the 197 weight class Jake Renfer of Muskegon CC finished third and Michael Nykoriak of St. Clair earned automatich berths. 

In the 285 pound weight class, Garret Clark of Ancilla College won the weight class and clinched an automatic berth. MCCAA wrestler of the year, Jackson Schenk of St. Clair was the runner up and clinched an automatic berth. Tyler Hill of Muskegon CC finished third and got an automatic berth as well.
