The Mid Michigan College women's basketball team defeated #19 - Muskegon Community College 71-58 on Saturday to win the NJCAA Division II Great Lakes District Women's Basketball Championship at Ford Fieldhouse. The Lakers used a 16-7 third quarter to put Muskegon away.
The Jayhawks were led by Yasmine Colon with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Kacy Jefferies had 12 points. Iyana Brown had 9 points and 13 rebounds, while Tierra Williams grabbed 11 rebounds and had four assists. Muskegon season ends with a 25-5 record.
Mid Michigan was paced by Steffi Kracko with 16 points, ten rebounds and five assists, Amelia McNutt had 13 points. Savannah Peplinski had 13 points and five assists, while Kaitlyn Ray added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
