Muskegon knocks off host Grand Rapids CC to advance to Great Lakes West District Championship

The Muskegon Community College women's basketball team outscored Grand Rapids Community College 37-19 in the second half to advance to Saturday NJCAA Divison II Great Lakes West Women's Basketball West District Championship. The Jayhawks won by a score of 74-50 over the host Raiders. 

The Jayhawks were paced by Yasmine Colon with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Iyana Brown pitched in 17 points, six assists and five steals. Joy Lee add 12 points off the bench, while Tierra Williams added ten points and seven assists. 

Grand Rapids was lead by Bethany Chick with ten points, 13 rebounds and four assists, while Danielle Lamancusa added 12 points and eight rebounds. Kendall Griffioen had eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and four blocks for the Raiders. Grand Rapids season comes to an end with an overall record of 15-16. 

The 19th ranked Jayhawks, who improve to 25-4 overall, will face Mid Michigan College for the NJCAA Division II Great Lakes West Championship and a trip to the NJCAA Division II Nationals on Saturday at 1 PM at Ford Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids.
