Grand Rapids wins Firebird Invitational for third straight title

The Grand Rapids Community College men's cross country team claimed their third straight meet win on Friday at the Firebird Invitational. The Raiders won the meet with 43 points doubling second place Jackson College, who had 87. Macomb Community College claimed third place by two points over St. Clair County Community College. Oakland Community College rounded out the top five. 

On the individual side, Grand Rapids' Joshua Kipkoech claimed his third straight win finishing the eight kilometer run in 27:08.4. St. Clair County CC's Drew Mayes was second for the third straight meet with a time of 27:43.7. Brian Frazee of Kellogg CC was third, while Jackson's Andrew Frohm finished fourth. Mott's Nolan Herr claimed fifth place just ahead of Grand Rapids' Jack Kehoe. Macomb's Aaron Greb and Collin McNulty finished seventh and eight respectfully. Grand Rapids claimed the final top ten spots with Lance Jourdan finishing ninth and Wilson Ishimwe claiming tenth.

The next time all 12 MCCAA teams will be in the same spot is on October 31 in Lansing, MI for the MCCAA/NJCAA Region XII championships. Several MCCAA teams will run on October 17 at the Jayhawk Invitational.
