Grand Rapids wins tenth MCCAA Golf Championship, Hestwood is individual medalist

The Grand Rapids Community College golf team battled cold winds, rain and wet course conditions to claim their tenth MCCAA Golf Championship at Arbor Hills Golf Club in Jackson, MI on Tuesday. The Raiders, who were down one stroke entering Tuesday's play, shot a tournament low 302 to beat Oakland Community College by nine strokes. They shot a 913 for the 54 holes. 

Jackson College's Riley Hestwood, who shot a tournament low 69 in the first round, shot 220 for the tournament to beat Mott's Austin Belcher and Grand Rapids' Cooper Bell by one stroke. The top ten individuals were named to the All-MCCAA First Team. The other award winners were: Keaton Inglis (Muskegon), Nicholas Ward (Grand Rapids), Jack Williams (Oakland), Eric Curtis (Oakland), Noah Rocheleau (Mott), Ryan Skislak (Grand Rapids) and JJ Gross (Delta). 

In Division II, the top five teams and six individuals not on those teams advanced to the NJCAA Region XII Division II Tournament on May 13-14, 2019. Delta College advanced in Division III to their Regional Tournament on May 14-15, 2019, along with the top two golfers from Schoolcraft College. Both tournaments will be held at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, MI.
