Jackson College Headlines MCCAA 2024 Men's Bowling Awards

WARREN, Mich.--The Michigan Community College Athletic Association has announced the MCCAA men's bowling awards for the Eastern and Western conferences during the 2023-24 season. In the west, Jackson College swept the team, bowler of the year and freshman of the year titles. On the east side, Mid Michigan College claimed two of three major titles.

Western
Team Champion: Jackson College
Bowler of the Year: Trey Richmond- Jackson College 
Freshman Bowler of the Year: Tobyn LePeak- Jackson College

The Jets earned 25 points by winning all four MCCAA events for 100 points, outdistancing Muskegon Community College (84 points), Marian University Ancilla (66), Montcalm Community College (66) and Kellogg Community College (48). Steve Sears is the team's head coach.

Richmond led the way with 2,322 total pins for a 194.0 average. He was a three-time MCCAA Western Men's Bowler of the Week. He twice went over 600 this season, including a season high series of 687.

Teammate Tobyn LePeak was tied for third in the West's individual standings with 2,191 pins, or an 183 average. He rolled a 487 series in his collegiate debut and then posted a career-best 623 in his next outing.

Eastern
Team Champion: Mid Michigan College
Bowler of the Year: Zach Endres- Schoolcraft College
Freshman Bowler of the Year: Ruberto Mosqueda- Mid Michigan College
 
Head coach Jacob Thelen led the Lakers to the team title with 96 points, which including three event victories of 25 points apiece. Schoolcraft College was second with 81 points, followed by St. Clair County Community College had 79, Kirtland Community recorded 60 and Wayne County Community College was listed in fourth place.
 
Zach Endres of Schoolcraft College knocked down 2,270 total pins to capture top individual honors. The MCCAA Eastern Men's Bowler of the Week4 recipient peaked with a 647 series and ended the season with a 615.
 
The Lakers' Ruberto Mosqueda was the runner-up overall, just seven pins back of Endres with 2,263 (189 average). He made his collegiate debut with a 524 and ended the regular season with a career-best 668.
