Former MCCAA Executive Secretary Charlie Chanter passes away

Charlie Chanter, former MCCAA Executive Secretary, passed away peacefully on June 12th. Chanter held the MCCAA Executive Secretary position for the Michigan Community College Athletic Association for 42 years, nearly half of the Associations 93 year existence. He took over the roll in 1966 and held the position until he retired in July of 2018. He also served as the MCCAA Golf Chairman for many years. He was also the archivist for the MCCAA minutes. He stored the minutes all the way back to the first meeting in April of 1926. Chanter was also the person who championed the MCCAA All-Sports Trophy, which is now named after him. Chanter also coached the Grand Rapids Community College golf team and sent several golfers to the NJCAA National Tournament.  There will be a memorial service for Chanter in Grand Rapids on Thursday afternoon.
