Lansing CC claims fourth straight Charlie Chanter MCCAA All-Sports Trophy

Lansing Community College athletic department claimed the 2018-19 Charlie Chanter MCCAA All-Sports Trophy, which is their fourth straight win. It is the longest stretch since Schoolcraft College won four straight between the 2000-01 season and the 2003-04 season.

The Stars claimed MCCAA titles in men's and women's cross country and softball, and conference championships in baseball and softball. They were second in men's basketball and third in volleyball. They also were runner up for the MCCAA baseball title. 

Mott Community College finished second in the standings with conference championships in volleyball and women's basketball. They finished runners up in softball, men's basketball and golf. Delta College moved up four spots from last year to finish third with women's soccer claiming the MCCAA women's soccer title. Mid Michigan College was the biggest mover jumping nine spots from last year's 15th place finished to claim sixth. 

The Charlie Chanter MCCAA All-Sports Trophy is presented to the team that has the has the highest point average. Each team is awarded points for where they finish in the standings starting with 100 points for first. Teams are also awarded for winning or finishing runner up in the MCCAA tournament or standings. The total points are then averaged by the number of sports the school competes in. The award is named after longtime Executive Secretary Charlie Chanter.
